Tickets available at Notably Bookstore 454 Ward Street, Nelson (cash only), or online here for a sliding scale of $40 - $75. There are also a limited number of $25 low income/youth tickets available as everyone should be able to come! The chef is able to accommodate gluten free and vegan diets.

Jerusalem-based chef Izzeldin Bukhari will share traditional Palestinian foods and delight you with stories about the dishes' ingredients, history and how they are part of Palestinian culture.  Learn about how food can be part of cultural resistance.  As Izzeldin says,

"Rich in nutritious ingredients and flavorful spices that are bound to the land, Palestinian food has made a deep impact on Mediterranean cuisine at large.

We are home to dishes that reflect our ancestors’ deep understanding of their soil, their ingredients, and their homeland.

Our aim is to keep that tradition alive, despite the relentless political and cultural pressures threatening its existence, and share that with the world."

Supporting others by attending

As well as being an amazing dinner and opportunity to learn, this evening event is also a fundraiser.  Thirty percent of the proceeds (plus additional donations) will go to support orphans in Gaza, to Autonomous Sinixt in our own region (sinixt.org), and to Unarmed Civilian Protection in Palestine (ucpip.org)

UCPiP is a Palestinian-led project responding to the protection needs of communities in the West Bank. UCPiP provides international accompaniers who utilize specialized skills to reduce violence and protect Palestinian civilians from harm perpetrated by Illegal Israeli settlements. Operating with a foundation of nonviolence, UCPiP also engages in international advocacy to raise awareness of the worsening human rights situation for Palestinian living in the West Bank.

Currently, seven volunteers are being supported to provide protective presence in the Jordan Valley which is being targeted by illegal Israeli settlers. Your financial support enables this crucial work to continue.

We hope to see you at the Rod & Gun club on June 29th. Invite your people because this fundraiser has been curated with so much love that you’ll find yourself mesmerized by all its beauty, flavours and sounds.
